MANAGE PHOTOS is the page to link a photograph to a particular horse. The photograph can be stored anywhere on the internet (PhotoBucket, YouTube, uploaded to any web site, etc.) and then linked to the particular horse. Be sure to TEST the link before adding it.

Specific Instructions for PhotoBucket

Go to www.photobucket.com

If you have not already done so, create an account and log in to that account

Click Library

To Upload a photograph to PhotoBucket

Create an Album with the name of your horse

Click Create New Album under Library

Do NOT use any blanks or spaces in the name

Be sure to create the album in Your Bucket - check the field carefully

Click UPLOAD

Click Your Bucket and find the name of the album for your horse - check this carefully

Click Choose photos & videos to find the pictures on your computer

As soon as you drag the photo or click OPEN, the upload will begin

To Load a photograph into thevirginiahorse.com

Find the photograph you wish to load in your Album

There are several links for each photograph – use DIRECT

Click on the Direct link below the small image

Copy it – click Command C on a Mac or Ctrl C on a PC

Go to Manage Photos on thevirginiahorse.com

Find your particular horse

Move the cursor to the Photo Link field and click Command V on a Mac or Ctrl V on a PC

Click TEST to make sure you have copied the link correctly

Name it – the name is used only to put the photographs in the order displayed

Click ADD to add the photograph

PhotoBucket now puts a watermark on all photos and so you may want to upload the photo here rather than use PhotoBucket. You can refer to photos stored here from Facebook.

Fields

Horse Name

Enter the first few letters of the horse name. A box will appear from which you can select the particular horse. As you type more letters, entries in the box will disappear. When you find the particular horse for which you are searching, click on that entry. Refer to the button section of this HELP, to determine what to do next.

Horse Id

Enter the horse number (from the HORSE ENTRY page) and proceed as above. Enter EITHER the Horse Name or the Horse Id to continue; BOTH are NOT necessary.

Photo Name

Enter the name of the photograph. This is just for reference however the name is limited to 8 characters and must be unique.

Thumbnail

Click on this box to select this photgraph as the thumbnail picture that appears on the HORSE DATA page. If none is selected, the first photograph will be used.

Photo Link

Enter the link to the photograph. This must contain enough of the URL (address) to actually find the photograph. The easiest way to load the link is to find the photograph where it is stored, then copy the entire link and paste it in this box. Be sure to TEST the link before adding it.

Photo

Click here to locate on your computer the photograph you wish to upload. This can be the camera if you want to upload the photograph directly. You will be asked to choose.

Buttons

LOOK UP

Find the photograph for the particular horse.

NEXT	Find the next photograph.

Find the previous photograph.

ADD	Link the photograph to the particular horse. A photograph can be linked to more than one horse.

MODIFY

Modify the name of the photograph or the link to the photograph.

CLEAR

Clear all input on the page.

DELETE

Delete the link of the photograph to the horse.

TEST	Test that the link actually finds the photograph. This is CRITICAL!

UPLOAD

Photographs from your computer can be uploaded (stored) directly to this website and then linked to a particular horse. To do this, click on the Photo field and locate the photograph on your computer. Once the photograph has been located, click this button to begin the upload process. After the upload is complete, click ADD to link the photograph to the horse.
